Dr Samy Francis has been practicing at ‘The Periodontists’ since November 2019 along side Dr Jane McCarthy, who retired late 2020.  He is fortunate to have had the opportunity to familiarise himself with the successful treatments that Dr Jane McCarthy was well known for.  He intends to continue the outstanding level of enthusiasm and expertise moving forward and promises the best periodontal experience and treatment possible.

Dr Francis graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Dental Science with Distinction.  Following graduation, he has worked in both private practice and the public sector in New Zealand, Central Queensland, Canberra, regional New South Wales, and regional and metropolitan Western Australia.

In 2016, Dr Francis commenced a three year postgraduate Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Periodontics) degree through the ‘University of Western Australia’.  During the three year program he divided his time between treating patients referred to the periodontics department, conducting research in the field of peri-implantitis management, and tutoring dental students during their training.

In 2018, during Samy’s training, he was invited to present his research at the ‘International Association of Dental Research’ (IADR) meeting in Adelaide, and also at the prestigious ‘EuroPerio’ Congress in Amsterdam.  Furthermore, he spent time at the periodontology department of the renowned University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill to further enhance his knowledge of Periodontics.

Since then, he practiced periodontics in Perth, Bunbury, Darwin, and Adelaide until he decided to settle down in Perth full-time. Dr Francis is currently the treasurer of the Western Australian branch of the ‘Australian Society of Periodontology’ (ASP WA).  He is also a member of ‘Faculty of Dental Surgeons’, ‘Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh)’, and the ‘Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons’ in periodontics.
