Information For Our Referrers
Most new patients require an OPG, please send an OPG with your referral that is no older than two years old. Some patients may require a recent OPG if they have had considerable deterioration during the two year period since their last OPG. Ideally, from a quality perspective, we prefer Envision Medical Imaging to do our OPG’s if possible, however SKG Radiology is also encouraged.
Patients requiring crown lengthening and gum grafting for children do not require an OPG – a PA will suffice.
All patients will be seen for an initial periodontal consult, analysis/charting, and treatment planning. Initial periodontal treatment will be provided, and, depending on the case, the patient will be transferred to our periodontal maintenance department to see our highly trained dental hygienists for ongoing care.
Patients receiving routine periodontal maintenance will have a new periodontal analysis every two years, or sooner if required. We will report to you after this to keep you up to date with your patient’s periodontal and oral health. We always recommend our patients return to their general dentist for check-ups, and any general dental treatment. In some cases, we ask them to return to their dental specialist.
New patients requiring a surgical exposure will need a current CBCT, ideally with cross section images of the problematic teeth.
We provide periodontal treatment under general anaesthetic, intravenous sedation, and other anti-anxiety therapies are on hand.
