Our Services
Gum Disease
The main cause of periodontal disease is bacteria in the form of either a sticky, colourless plaque (the layer the toothbrush can remove) that constantly forms on your teeth, or hard dark coloured deposits. However, many factors can cause periodontal disease, or influence its progression.
Gum Grafting
If you are after a gum graft, do not look any further as we are the practice for gum grafts in Perth. Our periodontist is very experienced in gum grafting procedures, and our practice has been providing them with excellent results for over twenty years. Gum grafts are procedures that aim at either replacing the missing gum tissues after gum recession (root coverage), or thickening the present gum tissues, or both.

Dental Implants
Dental implants are a replacement option for missing natural teeth. They can be used to replace one, multiple, or all the teeth. The best thing about dental implants is that they are fixed to the bone, and hence in most cases, does not need to be removed or re-inserted (unlike dentures which require removal regularly).
About The Periodontists
‘The Periodontists’ was established initially under the name ‘Applecross Periodontics’ by Dr Jane McCarthy in 1999, with the aim of providing specialist periodontal and dental implant services in a convenient relaxed environment. Dr McCarthy continued to provide her well known excellent periodontal services since then, until she retired in late 2020. Dr Samy Francis worked alongside Dr McCarthy for a couple of years before becoming the new owner.
With the aim of moving toward a bright successful future, Dr Samy Francis rebranded ‘Applecross Periodontics’ to ‘The Periodontists’. He is committed to providing the best periodontal care possible and continuing the exceptional services that our loyal referrers, dentists and patients are used to.
Operation Hours & Services
Hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm, appointments are required. Most patients are referred by other dental professionals for periodontal care, however it is not essential for a patient to be referred. Anyone with concerns about the health or appearance of their gums can make an appointment directly by calling the practice.
Dental implant placement is another service we provide, this treatment replaces missing teeth. For patient confort, we have experienced anaesthetists who regularly provide additional anaesthetic services for anxious patients within the practice itself, and at Southbank Day Surgery, located in South Perth. Our facilities are also designed to accommodate treating patients in wheelchairs.
